Host Oscar Candrian


For over 30 years, the passionate restaurateur Oscar Candrian has been on the Uetliberg: first as a chef at UTO KULM, then almost ten years now as managing director and host at Gmüetliberg.

Together with Giusep Fry, Oscar Candrian worked in a hotel in Chur where they got to know each other. As the new General Manager at UTO Kulm was looking for a chef with passion and skill, it was no surprise that he chose Oscar Candrian. Today, he is the managing director of the Gmüetliberg and an institution for his guests.

From Sagogn at Illanz via Chur to Zurich – then back to the mountain, the Uetliberg

“Sometimes you need a new challenge,” said Oscar Candria when he took over management of the Gmüetliberg almost ten years ago. The varied crowd of older regulars, the many families with small children, and tourists from all over the world make all the difference: the Gmüetliberg is a real inn where guests can feel at home.

Oscar Candrian has adopted many specialties from his home, the Surselva: Enjoy white wine risotto with porcini mushrooms harvested by the boss himself on the Maiensääss Alps.
